Meteor Lighting - Post Secondary Theater Application (c/w ETC Integration with DMX & 0-10V Dimming!)

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

At the cutting edge when it opened, the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center has served the campus community at Macalester College, Saint Paul, MN, for more than 45 years. The renovation and expansion project fulfills their vision of a "hub" where the fine arts intersect. Schuler Shook provided theatre consulting and architectural lighting services for the theatre building.

Meteor's Atria 4 cylinders are installed throughout the project and we got the chance to ask Paul Whitaker, LEED AP, Principal of Schuler Shook Minneapolis and New York, to give us his take on our products.
How well did Meteor fixtures work with the ETC control system provided by JTH?
We had the meteor fixtures dimming via DMX and 0-10V. The 0-10V fixtures we had dimming on both the ETC system and standard wall box dimmers. With both dimming methods, the dimming worked well. In the small theatre where we dimmed via DMX on the ETC system the dimming curve is fantastic.
How does the Atria 4, covering a wide lumen range, offer greater flexibility?
We were able use Meteor in a variety of spaces with varying ceiling heights and various photometric requirements. The same fixture body was able to meet all those needs.
A majority of the fixtures specified came with a Glow Ring, how satisfied were you with this decorative accessory?
In teaching spaces and the costume shop we wanted to add a little bit of sparkle to help upgrade the finish of the room. The glow ring gave us just a little bit more while still meeting the high footcandle levels required.
